Description: Esme stands at around 5ft5inches tall with an athletic build; she keeps on top of her strength training and general fitness but has well toned muscles. She is not overly muscular, but you can tell she works out. Her hair is short-ish in length, coming to stop just above her shoulders and straight, parted from the left side.

She is often found wearing a pilot's flight suit, undone with the arms tied around her waist. Underneath that, she wears tank tops or small t-shirts. With that, she will often wear combat boots with the laces wrapped around her ankles before she ties them at the front. When she is needed for her flying, she will undo the suit and become fully kitted out with everything she needs to pilot, with a pistol strapped to her leg in case she finds herself down.

Biography

Born to a Mexican-born mother and American-born USAF father, Esme was a child of the military and moved around a lot with her family. She was extremely close with her father, despite him not spending a lot of time at home, as she appreciated his time with more passion the less of it they had. She made every second count, as did her father. By comparison, her brother was not as close, and even resented him for not putting the family first. The two were also extremely close with their mother and loved her dearly, enjoying her cooking, her made up games, the creativity she brought to the home. She was a mother without compare, in their eyes, no one ever reaching the pedestal that they had put her on. And Elena adored her children.

When Esme was much older, she came to a decision that she would like to follow in her father's footsteps and become a pilot, however, she didn't want to fly jets or planes. Esme has set her heart on helicopters.

By the time she was 18, Esme had applied to join the US Army and completed the Warrant Officer Flight Program over an 18 month period. Her parents couldn't be prouder, but there was little affection or support from her brother, though he did not make this obvious. In 2017, the battles that would follow the Federation's first attack were some of Esme's first. A few years after that, whilst on leave, she visited her mother and brother in Mexico, just before the Federation attacked and claimed Mexico a part of its dictatorship. It was during this time that Esme had to hide her true occupation, while working to keep her family safe; she intended on escaping Mexico with them, heading towards the border to America where she knew fellow troops were holding the line. However, it was on this journey that they were captured by Federation soldiers, questioned and threatened. Esme refused to talk, unwilling to give in to their demands. It was at this moment that one soldier killed their mother in front of them. Her brother caved, begging them to take them in and that they would fight for the Federation. He gave his sister the grace to keep her secret safe, not revealing that she was with the US Army, or else that would mean her death, too. It was at this point that Esme and her brother were taken in by the Federation and became soldiers; Esme's talents as a pilot were clocked and she unwillingly, silently spent years biding her time for the right moment to escape. Meanwhile, her brother worked his way up through the ranks, gave in to their propaganda, and came to love the Federation. While stationed at a remote POW base, one that her brother was the overseer for, Esme found her opportunity to escape. A rebel attack gave her the opening and Esme stole one of the helicopters with the intent on flying to the nearest US-associated base.

She knew the risk that came with flying an enemy bird into US territory, but it was calculated and one she was willing to take; of course, with the lack of luck that Esme seemed to have, her bird was shot down. In its crash landing, Esme survived, but was injured, a jagged piece of shrapnel stuck in her thigh as well as a broken wrist, other grazes and scratches. She tried to patch herself up as best she could and waited, knowing that her former affiliate would send someone to check out why a singular enemy chopper was flying so haphazardly in enemy territory.

This was her first run in with the Ghosts, Beth (@stargazing-sapphire2's oc) was the one locate her and after a brief conversation, she had gained herself long enough to plead her case to Elias. Of course, there were records of her, records that stated she was AWOL. Given that snippet of truth to her story, Elias allowed her the benefit of the doubt. Not to mention, Esme had good insight a fraction of their enemy, and all information was helpful. It took a while for Esme to find her place, but she was glad to be back with the people she was supposed to have been fighting for from the beginning. She remains loyal to them, fiercely, but experiences a lot of grief over the loss of her brother, who still maintains oversight on many POW camps.

San is trying to Do a Thing while on the promotion tour for Lemon Drop

In Korean script, that says, One and Only (in white) Free Bakku San (then in actual English, very positive). Free Bakku comes from 상견례프리빠꾸상 (Literally: Face that Gets Rejected on Sight by Parents at the Formal Meeting Between the Parents and Couple to Give Mutual Assent to the Engagement). They made a pun, swapping out the word 상 ( sang) with San's name, 산. I've said before that San is on a campaign to defy this moniker.

San made an appearance, along with Yeosang, on this girl idol's youtube talk show.

The staff on the show bring up the whole Free Bakku Face issue, and Yeosang immediately disavows the moniker for himself: You don't mean both of us?? In pink, the subtitle says: Swift Border Creation between himself and San. San says, "What do you mean, both of us??

Throughout this show, like he was with Narae Park on the other program, San is the most perfectly gentle, demure, well behaved boy you ever saw. For example, they don't provide him with an immediate place to put the trash that's generated in the course of doing the show and tell that's a part of this show's set up, so he quietly just puts the trash out of sight in his own pocket.

The subtitle put in by the totally won-over staff says, Tell Me How You Don't Fall in Love With Choi San.

In addition to being soft and well spoken, gentle mannered, and considerate of other people, the other thing San wants to push this comeback, hardcore, is that he's a great student. The Korean concept of academic excellence is not so much that it's a talent or a matter of intelligence. We think it's a matter of know how x effort. And Choi San intends for you to know that he is someone who can commit to and actually achieve studying a language very far removed from his own for 30 minutes every. single. day. He even shares his study notes! And he does have really lovely American pronunciation

The thing is!

2. Wooyoung is trying to do two things - one is the same thing that San is doing, and the other is to beat San at it, because that's how he does things.

Wooyoung is just going to skip the part where he auditions for Perfect Son in Law. I think his assumption is that he'll have the girl in hand already, and anyway everyone loves him, so why would the father of the bride object? But just in case, he wants everyone to know that he has fully mastery over childcare.

The title literally says, THE GENIUS OF CHILDCARE and they aren't talking about Yeosang.

He taught this little baby to say a word within about four tries!

He sings her a lullaby! And the editor, who fell in love with him, wrote an additional comment later that she drifted off to sleep while editing this bit because his lullaby was so soothing. (Girl it get it TOGETHER).

The baby is completely enamored by the end of this rather dull outing where this exceptionally docile baby is taken very good care of by a self-professed baby-care expert.

This kind of babycare content coincided with now famous death spiral of the Korean birthrate, and I'm actually still not sure that showing exceptionally hot men having a really relaxing babysitting session is actually going to change anything, but I do prefer this (beautiful men interacting helpfully with babies and not being lost or looking for a woman to help them) over the other usual content about the low birthrate, which is ugly old men yapping about what women aged 21-34 want or don't want, without ever, not once, inviting a woman, any woman, to speak.

Wednesday Addams: Hacker Extraordinaire

It was no great secret that Wednesday eschewed modern technology in most forms, principally laptops and cell phones. While she logically understood they had their uses, the average teen (i.e. her peers) typically used either for mind-numbing entertainment, soulless internet validation, or somehow both simultaneously. Her beloved typewriter served her well enough and she was far too skilled to mistype and have to redo an entire page of work, a fact she was certain none of her classmates shared. She had gone on this long without being shackled to an electronic device; she was confident she would continue to do so long after she graduated from Nevermore.

Once word spread of her writing tool of choice, she was the subject of some good-natured teasing from her Enid's friends. At least, Enid had declared it was good-natured and that they didn't mean any harm. Wednesday wasn't as sure, considering they never stopped mentioning it, but did her best to ignore the slights to her supposed ineptitude. She wasn't inept. Far from it. She simply had zero need nor desire to use any such device, and that was despite Xavier gifting her a cell phone last year.

That all changed, however, with one small comment made during lunch one autumn day.

"Hell, I bet she couldn't even understand HTML, much less a real programming language."

Wednesday couldn't remember if it was Bianca or Yoko that had said that aloud (whoever it was, Enid had immediately told them to knock it off), having been immediately distracted by one part of the sentence: programming language. Specifically, language. While she had no use for the high tech toys others wasted so much of their time with, she did possess a vast interest in foreign languages, and was something of a savant when it came to learning them. Spanish, German, Italian, French, Latin, and Catalan were all part of her personal intellectual arsenal, and she was familiar enough with several others should she ever be stranded on the European continent for a considerable length of time.

Again.

So, in the interest of expanding her already-massive repertoire of skills once more, and potentially get her Enid's friends to finally lay off their continual unnecessary commentary of a non-existent weakness, Wednesday made a decision to master the language of programming and, by extension, modern technology. And soon discovered a problem.

Turns out, like spoken and written languages, there were multiple programming languages available, far too many to learn in any one sitting, so out of necessity, Wednesday had to narrow her focus. Knowing that most of her peers were shackled to their phones, she opted to start with whatever languages those used. Thankfully, despite the myriad models and types of phones available, there were apparently only two major categories: Apple and Android. Meaning she only had to learn two languages: Apple and Android. Should be pretty simple, right?

...it may take a bit longer than a week.

...okay, a month.

...damnation.

While Wednesday would never admit it to anyone, learning programming languages was more difficult than she had anticipated, having occupied nearly all of her time throughout the entirety of winter break. Still, she could admit it was time well-invested, especially the first time she remote hacked Bianca and Yoko's phones to send each other a stream of vomit-inducing love poems via their messaging apps. Seeing their mutual horror at the lunch table was immensely satisfying.

The only question that remained was what to do next?

time for a wip breakdown post:

digital reflections au - explained in this post. short version: jay is replaced by an npc clone of himself (called superstar rockin’ jay) during s12 and is abandoned in prime empire by the unaware ninja. two oneshots have been planned; one has been written and posted here, and the other’s about halfway done.

putting the puzzle pieces back together - my take on what happened to jay post-merge! written post-leaks and pre-teasers so it’s all based on the fact that jay has amnesia and he’s working for the administration (which, in my au, is an agency dedicated to the pursuit of knowledge and using it to keep the other realms in line). it’s been a project of mine for a while and i cannot wait to share the rest of it (especially what i have planned for jay’s powers)!

my currently-unnamed groundhog day au is based on the concept of the film (time loops), but not strictly the plot. kai and nya get stuck in a time loop during the finale of s7, and have to work with each other, their newly-returned parents, and the ninja to restore time to its natural state. i have a couple of scenes planned for this but that’s about it; i’m trying (emphasis on the word trying) to finish my other projects before tackling this!

and finally: my other prime empire au that’s been in the works since… *checks notes* july 2022?!? it’s gone through many changes and rewrites due to the fact it’s heavily science-fiction inspired and therefore requires a lot of lore-building to make sense. it’s a prime empire au, but in the loosest sense possible: there’s a video game called prime empire, some people get trapped in it, and jay gets separated from the ninja - but that’s about all there is in common. unfortunately i can’t say too much about it, given the fact that there are certain plot twists that change the trajectory of the entire story and are therefore spoilers.

frustrating how so many craft books have a section about "how to sell what you've made"

like on one hand i get it because the person writing the book has obviously made their craft a full-time job. and they might have some tips and tricks that might be useful, and there are people out there who might be trying to start a small business out of it

but on the other hand it's just exhausting and feels like another voice saying "what's the point of having a hobby if you're not going to monetize it"
